Computer Took a Sick Day
Have you ever had one of those days when nothing seems to work?
Today was like that for me. I woke to my alarm but couldn’t wrap my brain around where the sound was coming from and how to get it to stop. Then I went to wake my younger daughter and she was almost as hard to kick-start as I was (not literally, for goodness sake! I gently nudge her awake.) I couldn’t find my way around the kitchen to make my usual breakfast and nearly forgot to put the kettle on for tea then almost wandered away before my English muffins were toasted.
And then I sat down at my computer to start my day. I glanced at, then summarily dismissed, a warning from Spybot that 36 problems had been found and fixed and barely caught the second message that said some other number (it completely escaped me) couldn’t be fixed and I’d have to reboot. I checked my e-mail and dropped in here to review comments then planned to open Photoshop to complete a fun new alpha I’m working on when everything screeched to halt.
I figured I’d go ahead and do that recommended reboot but after doing so, nothing was working right. Time for some maintenance.
So today my computer was processing through routine tasks that I’ve put off for a couple of months because I was too busy to stop and take care of it. Instead of finishing off projects or cruising through StumbleUpon or reading and responding to e-mail or scrapping.
And I napped. With my hard-to-wake daughter snuggled on my lap. Not the most productive day in terms of getting things done but it was more satisfying than a tidy inbox.
TschĂĽss!
