What’s In A Name?

June 8th, 2008

I’ve got a big surprise for you today.

I’ve been paying attention to your comments and some of you have told me that you can’t use PSD or even layered TIF files, so I found a script that helps me separate all the template layers into individual PNG files.  And now, for every template that doesn’t rely on layer styles to make it work, those of you using DIP or any other program that can’t read a layered file will be able to take advantage of the convenience afforded by templates.

I’ve also decided to eliminate the PSD files to conserve space and reduce download times.  Now, you’ll get a folder of PNG layers and a layered TIF file along with the preview, folder image and TOU.

So, are you ready for your first template in this format?  I’m sure you are but let me take a moment to tell you a little about this project.

Simply.Life is what I’ve decided to call it for a number of reasons.  It’s about simple layouts, it’s about simplification and time-saving and it’s about directing focus to living well.  Very few of my templates will feature single photos because I’m one of those who prefers to tell the story of an event quickly and with few pages.  I don’t have time to build an album for every vacation, so I cram it all into 2-6 pages and move on to the next event.  See? Simple.

You’ll notice the product preview cards are numbered and that you’re seeing them out of order but I did say I wouldn’t share a template until I had completed a layout with it, remember?  If you want me to do it sequentially, you’ll be waiting a while because I’m still waiting on the photos for the pages I have planned!  You’ve probably already sussed that I’m using this project to move my teen’s album along, so I’m at her mercy for completion as I beg for the images I need.

And here’s the template you may have anticipated from my prior post…

I really want to know what you think of the changes and of the template, too.  Please leave a comment and don’t be shy.

Also, when you credit my work in galleries, my name is GINA MARIA, not Gina Marie or Gina Maria Huff (her middle name is not Maria, by the way, it’s Marie).  I’ve found a great many of my designs credited that way and one of my most complex templates (one that I worked very hard on for well over a week) was credited to “Gina Marie Huff of Weeds & Wildflowers.”  My last name is Myers, not Huff.  She’s got her own very successful design business and she’s even getting paid for her work.  She doesn’t need credit for my work, so please respect the effort I’ve put into my work and credit me correctly.  I make it so easy by packaging and naming my files simply and clearly.  Sorry for the rant, but it was disappointing to see so much of my work credited that way.

Tschüss!

Thank you so much for this charming template, Gina Maria! Sorry you haven’t been getting credit for all of your work. You’re very talented, and I’m sure we’ll all pay attention about how to credit you. Thanks again.

Gina Maria, thank you for a wonderful template and I do apologize for confusing your other template I have with GM Huff! it’s all corrected and I will be careful in the future… thank you for sharing your wonderful work :)

I have PS so I deleted the pngs folder. The tiff was 50MB, so I saved it as a psd which was about 10mb and deleted the tiff.

OK Gina, Yes, I DID think that you two Ginas were one and the same. I do apologize for not even noticing the Maria vs the Marie! I did go back over my LO posts in the galleries and I didn’t actually credit you with Huff of W&W, but I did have Gina marie. So I fixed them all to read Gina Maria/ScrapbookingResourceCenter
I am so sorry again for my careless oversight!

OMG!! THat was me! I credited you as Gina Marie Huff from W&W. I thought that WAS you! I am so sorry. I will straighten my files and separate you two, and go back and edit my LO posts. I am so, so sorry. I am really glad you posted that, here I go, head in bowing shame!

Thank you so much, so sorry people have been giving the wrong credit. I don’t post any of my layouts online but will be very careful if I should and use your designs.

Can’t wait to use this template. Not only do I never do one-photo layouts, I almost always do 2-pagers for “events.” And, I don’t know how anyone could confuse Gina Maria and Gina Marie Huff. :) Both very talented, but very different. Thank you!

Thank You so much GINA MARIA MYERS! Will be sure to credit correctly if I post anywhere. You gift is very much appreciated and beautiful too.

As a DIP user I’m THRILLED at the idea of a template in png format. Thanks so much for that. It’s too bad that you have not been given credit for your work in some places. You are a great artist with a generous heart. Thanks for sharing!!

Gina Maria, you are the absolute BEST-EST for including layered PNG files for your templates. I **promise** to credit you correctly and to always comment when I download a gift (I try my best, but admittedly get in a hurry and neglect my manners sometimes.)

Have a wonderful week. And, again, thank you for your continued generosity.

Great Gina! I have some gals in a scrapbooking group of mine that have trouble with psd and such, that use DIP, they’ll be tickled! I’ll link them to here!

  25. Cheryl on June 8, 2008 5:46 pm

Thank you so much Gina Maria! I use PSCS2 and can use the layered files, but I always save any new templates as a TIFF so now I won’t have to when I download yours! Thanks again, this is lovely!

  26. twoboyz00 on June 8, 2008 5:02 pm

Thanks so much for another great template! I use PSP9, and the tiff files can only be opened as a flattened file. Luckily, I also have PSE, so I was able to open the tiff and save as psd, then open the psd file in PSP. It’s an extra step, but not that big of a deal for me. Thank you so much for your generosity!

I’m a PSE user and was able to open the TIFF file just fine. It might have been a little confusing if I didn’t know ahead of time that the TIFF file was the one I wanted.

Thanks for sharing this lovely template! I’m a simple tell-a-story sort of scrapper myself. Rarely do I have only one picture on a page.

Thanks for the template. The new png/tif worked ok. I have PSE so makes no difference. Just was a little confused looking for one png with all elements but then found the tif and it worked ok. I usually just open the file that has a png logo on it and picture of whole template, so was looking for that. I’m not very techy so I stick with what works. But like you said it’s a great template for multi pictures. Thanks again, always love your stuff.

Love that bracket on the multi photo template!

I totally understand!!! On the flip side, I have a special signature that really says “me”, but don’t dare to use it because every other Robin out there may steal my ‘identity’. One day I may just use it anyway ;)

    You do great work ;)
