Childhood
by John T. Baker

Blissful rounds of mirth and magic,
Years of innocence and awe,
Cosseted by simple pleasures
Now but memories.
Swiftly flew the fragrant hours,
Ever faster sped the days;
All too soon was childhood ended
Save for memories. Reinforced by recollection,
Vivid stay those absent scenes;
Long-since vanished blithe companions
Live in memories.
Stored away now wrapped in tissue,
Tied with ribbons faded pale,
Relics from that world of wonders, Treasured memories.

Our Famliy
Author unknownOur family is a circle of strength and love,
With every birth and every union,
the circle grows,
Every joy shared adds more love,
Every crisis faced together,
Makes the circle stronger.

Through My Grandmother’s Eyes
by Ed CunninghamThrough my grandmother’s eyes
I can see more clearly
the way things used to be,
the way things ought to be,
and most important of all,
the way things really are.
The Best Is Underground
Author unknown

I climbed my family tree and found,
it was not worth the climb,
and so I scampered down, convinced,
it was a waste of time.

Some branches of my tree, I found,
were rotten to the core,
and all the tree was full of sap,
and hung with nuts galore.

I used to brag on my kinfolk,
before I made my climb,
but truth compels me now to tell,
of those not worth a dime.

I beg my friends who boast aloud,
of their ancestors great,
to climb their family tree and learn,
of those who weren’t so straight.

I learned what family trees are like,
and then I scrambled down,
They’re like a “Tater Vine” because,
the best is underground.

Memories
Author unknownMemories are like flowers
that God plants in our hearts
that bloom and fill our lives
with love as the years go by.
